Day 8... A Trip Down Memory Lane

Today's adventures didn't go quite as planned... it started with an early morning trip to the Med Stop.  Poor Craig had a pretty rough night and woke up with a fever.  He ended up with bronchitis, pink eye, and an ear infection.  This is what he has to say about that...

No fun at all!  Needless to say, they loaded him up with some good medicine and he came back to the hotel to rest up.

While he rested, the girls and I had breakfast here at the hotel and played games.  Honestly, we were not too disappointed to have a change in plans when we realized the temperature was going to get up above 110!  Craig continues to assure us that this heat is different than the heat in Ga...it's a dry heat and not humid.  This is true BUT 110 degrees is 110 degrees-dry or humid-that's HOT people!!

Around noon, Craig got up and felt good enough to head over to his old stomping grounds.  He lived in Montclair, California from 1985-1989 and attended high school there. He took us to see his high school, the neighborhood where he lived, the bakery he worked at, and even the 7 eleven his mom caught him at while skipping school :0).  This trip down memory lane was good dose of medicine for Poppy!  He loved sharing this with us!

While driving out to the Montclair area, we could see a great deal of smoke.  Not too far away, 2 wildfires have burned 4,500 acres in the San Gabriel Mountains.  Even though it is a beautiful day, the smoke makes it look very dreary and overcast.  Mandatory evacuations of the area have been ordered for residents.  Pray for these people and all the emergency responders trying to get control of these fires.

For dinner, we met up with one of Craig's best friends, Vicki and her family (husband Alan and 2 boys-Matthew and Michael) at a restaurant called BJ's.  We have heard lots of stories about their crazy times as teenagers so it was great to finally meet Vicki in person.

After dinner, we came back to the hotel so Craig could get back to bed.  We did pass the California Angel's Stadium and managed to snap a few pictures.

This evening, the girls and I washed clothes and played some more games.  We are hoping that Craig's medicines will start to kick in and the extra rest will help him to feel much better in the morning.

Until tomorrow...
