Day 5... Warner Brothers, Dory, and a Cupcake

Our day started out with a late breakfast. My troops again did not make it to breakfast. I waited on them and took a shower because Jennifer says that I make too much noise when I get up so I laid there for what seemed an eternity. I have never been so restless.  Finally I just said the heck with this and got up and took a shower.  Nothing like a shower where you can use all the hot water you want and nobody complains.  Finally breakfast at last!!!!!  Today we had turkey sausage links, eggs, potatoes, boiled eggs and an assortment of fruit and breads.

We started off our trip to the local Kmart. This was like walking back in time to the 70's.  It had the Blue light specials and you could even see where the store used to have the restaurant in the back that served the best grilled cheese and coke.  Those days have long since been gone😢😢

Then we went to Warner Brothers Studios for our tour.  The funniest thing is I make fun of the tourists and now I am one.

Our tour guide was Jonathan. It is amazing that these studios were built and the town spawned up around them. Just so you know parking is the business to be into here in Southern California.  Everywhere you have to pay, pay, pay.  We saw the sound stages from shows such as Friends, Pretty Little Liars, Two and a Half Men, The Ellen Show, and Big Bang Theory.

We saw the prop houses from Fuller House, Walton's, Cooters garage from the Dukes of Hazard, and many more.

Our tour guide said that there was a chance we could catch a glimpse of a celebrity but not to go to crazy.  He came up with the code phrase 'chocolate bulldog' that he said he would announce if he had a celebrity spotting.  It wasn't 10 minutes later and he said "Chocolate bulldog ahead on the golf cart!"  It was Jodie Sweetin aka Stephanie Tanner, Cameron Bure aka DJ Tanner, and one other female (maybe Andrea Barber aka Kimmie Gibler). This sighting happened SO fast that we got a quick picture of the golf cart whizzing away.  But how cool to see some of our favorites from Full House!  Wow!

We then toured the set of The Big Bang Theory.  They are currently not filming but it was cool to see where Raj, Sheldon, Leonard, Howard, and Penny all hang out!  We were not permitted to take pictures of the set so we took a picture of the next best thing... the parking spot!

Next we went into the prop house and saw so many props for different movies.  It's like a store where they just go in and tag what they want and scan it with a bar code and then no other production crew can get that item.  They even had the presidential desk and accessories from the show The Office.

We saw the real working Batman cars and motorcycles from different movies.

We saw the Warner Brothers Museum where they had the Marvel Comic Displayed.

They also had a whole floor dedicated to Harry Potter.

After the tour we were able to have coffee at Central Perk (hint: Friends) and hold a real Oscar.

Later I took my picture with the real boots and hat that Larry Hagman (JR Ewing) wore for the series Dallas.

After most of the day there we left for lunch.  We got recommendations from our tour guide.  He named off several places and we decided on 'The Tam O'Shanter', a famous restaurant that many movie stars frequent.

It is best know for the lunch spot of Walt Disney and his animation team that would frequent for their brain storming ideas.  They have the table that was reserved for them and it even has sketches on it when ideas came to mind.  We had a prime rib sandwich, roast beef plate, Caesar salad, and for desert we shared a chocolate fudge sundae.

We left there to go see Finding Dory at the Galleria in Glendale.  Very good movie and the outdoor shopping area was just beautiful. So many people and different stores.  They even have a trolley that runs the courtyard. Julianna and Carley ordered a cupcake from an ATM.  That was cool.  This place is so fancy that you could get your car washed while you shopped.

After returning back to the hotel we played games and made another Del Taco run.

Stay tuned for our next adventure tomorrow.
