Well, it's never a good sign when you wake up to a missed call from the airline! Our first flight was delayed an hour (wish I would have got that call before the 5:30am alarm went off!!). This delay was not a big deal EXCEPT for it made the chances for us making our connecting flight VERY difficult. We were originally supposed to land in Dallas around 11:30am. Our connecting flight to LA was to leave Dallas at 12:20pm. Now, with the delay, it put us getting into Dallas sometime after 12pm which meant their was slim to no chance of making our connecting flight. Huge bummer because Craig had a surprise for the girls and we really needed to be in LA around 3pm. It sounded like we were going to be spending a LOT of time in an airport on standby. We got on the first flight and we felt like royalty! Craig surprised us with first class seats!!! OMGoodness, I have never flown first class before. We had these big comfy seats that reclined, blankets, earbuds, all sorts of drink options, and fancy snacks. Fun times! As the plane started to make its landing and the pilot was going through all of his post flight jargon, we realized that the plane we were on was actually our connecting flight plane!! Say what? How awesome is that! We weren't going to miss our flight after all! Yes, we wouldn't make it to LA on time BUT we would NOT be spending the day in the airport!! No doubt that God is on this vacation too! :) We had to deboard that plane just to reboard it one more time to make the 3hour flight to LA. Again...Poppy surprised us with first class seats. On this flight we got to have lunch. This was interesting. We had our choice between vegetable ravioli or grilled chicken cob salad. We all played it safe and went with the chicken. Surprisingly, it was really good! I kinda felt bad for the people behind us that just got nuts and pretzels. And just in case your wondering, the bathroom in first class is no bigger or better than it is in the back. In fact, I think it was smaller (if that's possible). We did enjoy the view from the window-the Mojave Dessert, Rocky Mountains, and the Colorado River. Pretty cool! We finally landed in LA and took off to claim our baggage. We then took a shuttle to the rental car place. Craig scored a great deal on Groupon and got a BMW X5. I guess we are living it up now! He's still trying to figure out how to drive the thing-for some reason reverse is giving him a hard time. Anyways, we made it to our surprise destination an hour late. The girls were beyond excited to find out we had tickets to see a live taping of Disney's Liv and Maddie. When we drove up, we saw the line of other hopeful and eager kiddos waiting/hoping to get in for the show. Even though we had tickets they explained to us that they had a large amount of VIP ticket holders which meant that us regular ticket holders probably wouldn't make it in. And it was even more unlikely we would get in since we were at the very back of the line. We decided to wait and take our chances. The show was to start filming at 5pm. Around 4:45pm, they let us know that they could accommodate some of us in an overflow room. Maybe, just maybe we would make it!! We were so close!! The last 8 in line didn't make it in :(. We were disappointed. BUT... because we didn't make it in they gave us passes to get into a different live audience for tomorrow that we are even more excited about!! We actually already had tickets for it BUT they gave us an even better hook up with guaranteed seating! So be sure to check back tomorrow to see what show we get to watch!! I can't wait!! By this time we are getting hungry...no HANGRY! It was after 5pm which is really like our 8pm. We drove around, saw several landmark road signs, and finally decided to try Pollo Loco fast food Mexican place. Well, we walked in and out pretty quickly. Didn't look very good or clean. Thankfully, as we got closer to the hotel we found a hamburger place called The Habit. It was really good! Delicious homemade strawberry limeade! We left the restaurant and went straight to the hotel- The Springhill Suites. We have a very nice room that we will be staying in for the next 5 days. It has 2 queen size beds and a living room area with a big couch. I even have a little coffee bar area! Yay! Today has been fun but long and we are all ready for a good nights sleep. Until tomorrow...
